If you were writing your autobiography or if someone else was penning your biography, you might have one or more people in your life that would warrant multiple mentions in your life's story. Some might even necessitate being the focus of a chapter due to their importance in your story. The details of how you met, your relationship to each other, and how that person impacted your life might demand space in the book. Other people might warrant a paragraph or a single sentence. Some people might be relegated to a mere footnote. And some people quite simply wouldn't make the editorial cut.

Most of the people that you will encounter in your life won't make the editorial cut or will be mere footnotes in your life's story. Don't give these people more importance than they warrant. Don't overly concern yourself with what those people think. Don't live your life trying to gain their approval or their respect. At the end of the day, you have to be able to live with your decisions and your choices. Even the respect and approval of people with greater prominence in your life's story should be a secondary concern in most cases. After all, what good is the respect and approval of others if you don't respect yourself, your decisions, and your choices. Live YOUR life and leave the opinions of others to the others.
