This Facebook post shares the story behind the hit song, “Margaritaville,” that ultimately kicked off a business empire for its author and a way of life for Jimmy Buffett, his adoring “Parrotheads,” and the beach bums of the world. I really like the way that the author of the Facebook post characterized the appeal of the song. I don’t know that I have ever really qualified as an “old soul,” but this song spoke to me from the beginning and I “got it” even if I didn’t see fit to put it into words and tie a bow around it. One fond memory that I have involving this song was singing it alongside some of my friends as part of an impromptu sing-along.
